Finding Our Voices: Speaking Out Against the Violence
By participants of Haven Hills' Battered Women's Groups and contributing Los Angeles Area Writers and Poets. Compiled and Edited by Jae L. Weiss and Blanca L. Bustillos-Adajian
Most of the poignant and powerful writings in Finding Our Voices: Speaking Out Against the Violence evolved out of the work being done by battered and formerly battered women and adult survivors of childhood incest, molestation and abuse who have been clients of Haven Hills. Many of those women have participated in the Creative Options Journal Workshop at Haven Hills Community Counseling Clinic.
This book was developed not only to motivate others to help in providing protection and recovery programs for victims of family violence, but also to offer hope to others who are suffering in volatile and dangerous relationships. It also provides a rare opportunity for the reader to hear the heartfelt expressions of those who have been wounded, traumatized and chronically abused by people they depended on and loved.
Most of the proceeds from the sale of this small and powerful volume will go to services for those suffering from the impact of domestic violence.
