2nd Annual Evening of Hope
Join us for another fabulous event at the Globe Theatre, Universal Studios, Hollywood on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. The evening will include dinner, a live and silent auction and terrific entertainment. Last year's event featured celebrities walking the red carpet, a wonderful dinner and LeAnn Rimes as the entertainer.
We are proud to honor Arlene and Lee Alpert with the Community Hope Award for their outstanding support of Haven Hills for more than 26 years. Arlene volunteers each week with children at Haven Hills Crisis Shelter, bringing her skills as a teacher to this vulnerable population. Lee was instrumental, along with Barbara Jean Penny and the late Judge Haig Kehiayan, in spearheading the creation of the Family Law Center which has since evolved into four domestic violence clinics in courthouses in Los Angeles County run by Neighborhood Legal Services.
The Alperts are long-time supporters of other nonprofit organizations in the San Fernando Valley. They are very active with the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging and Arlene volunteers her time with Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship and for Circle of Care Leeza's Place. She is also a board member of the Child Development Institute and Director of Community Liaison for Providence Tarzana Medical and a certified therapy dog handler through Lend A Paw Program.
The Safe Haven Award will be presented to the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department for their outstanding work in keeping our community safe.
